Sleep Apnea can be a life threatening problem for the millions who have it.
Sleep apnea occurs when the upper airway passage becomes narrow during sleep, causing the muscles to relax. Once the muscles relaxes there is a reduction of oxygen in the blood which in turn causes many people to gasp for air, arousing us from sleep and also preventing people from a deep refreshing sleep. A CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine is used by people for their treatment of sleep apnea. The CPAP machine works by delivering a steady flow of compressed air through a hose to a mask that is fitted to their nose or both their nose and mouth, keeping the airway open. This helps the CPAP machine user to experience unobstructed breathing making it possible to prevent or reduce sleep apnea. An added benefit of the CPAP machine is that it eliminates the – Room Shattering Snoring – that seems to accompany people with sleep apnea.
CPAP machines are effective in treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea by restoring the user to a quality of life. The side benefits to the CPAP User receiving quality sleep is that their spouse and other family members also have remarkable better sleep.
For myself personally, I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine. For the first time in 5 years I wake up refreshed, alert and ready to take on the day. My husband is also reaping the benefits of a quiet night’s sleep, neither of us realized how much sleep he was missing on a nightly basis.
The only real problem that I had was, the hose that went from the CPAP machine to my nose mask was cold and seemed to accumulate moisture. I put up with it during the summer but I knew that winter was not going to be fun!
While I and other struggled with this problem, my sister did something about it. She is the creator of: CPAP Cushies, hose covers and headstrap covers for CPAP machine users. She sent me a set of her test market samples and the hose cover did the trick by eliminating almost 100% of the hose moisture.
